Restorative Conferencing is a Tier 2/Tier 3 component of a Restorative Practices framework for discipline, focusing on addressing and repairing harm. The practice of restorative conferencing is a facilitated conversation that utilizes three parts in order to restore the learning relationships between participants - pre-meetings to prepare all participants, the face-to-face meeting that results in an agreement reached by consensus, and an agreement completion meeting to assess. Restorative conferences provide a safe and structured space for participants to understand what happened, express how they have been affected and create a written agreement to repair the harm and prevent the incident from happening again.
This training is intended for school personnel with capacity to work one-on-one or in small groups with students, such as an administrator, school counselor, or other staff with a passion for utilizing restorative practices.
Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to:
Understand the restorative conferencing process.
Support additional staff members in understanding the restorative conferencing process.
Facilitate restorative conferences with individual and small groups of students to repair harm.
8:30 AM - 2:30 PM both days
